BOND INTERNATIONAL - Cheers for the 25 years!
I made this graphic 5 years ago to celebrate the 20th anniversary of BOND International.
BOND was the heart and soul of the Carnaby Street area and welcomed everyone from all walks of life, artists, photographer, retailers, designers, FRENCH lol, train drivers, customers, your average Joe and HOBO’s “Stealth” (the local hobo who couldn’t put one foot in front of the other, but would always manage to steal your pint from out of your hand without you noticing). No judgement, everyone was equal, it ended up being somewhat a surrogate home to a lot of us and that’s what i loved about it.
Wasn’t just a Streetwear store but a hub for everyone in industry to congregate and hangout, share story’s over a few cans of Red strip or 10, among other thing (which I will not mention). The shop would close for business at the end of the day but would still be open for friends and fam alike to the early hours of the morning, most days.
Its sorely missed since its close and central London has never been the same. I know it changed my life a lot when it went and am just grateful to have been apart of it for the last few years.
You never had to make any plans, just go in to town and go there. Hang out with KJ, Nicky or Captain and if they were busy you knew there would be someone from our group of friends loitering on the infamous Bond bench outside.
It reminded me of the lyrics to the theme tune of the US TV series “Cheers” which sums up BOND to a T. Hence why i did the BOND graphic in the “Cheers” font.
BOND is still going online after 25 yrs of being in business, so I’ve updated the graphic to “Cheers for the 25 years” go check it and get yourself some garms BOND INTERNATIONAL
